A 7-day notice is only as long as your state writes

Seven days shows up in some notice statutes and in some answer periods. Those are different clocks. Do not mix them.

Calendar and notice — a 7-day notice is a local rule, not a national form
Calendar and notice — a 7-day notice is a local rule, not a national form
A 7-day notice is a demand some jurisdictions use before filing, or a period people confuse with the tenant’s time to answer after service. Which clock you are on is state law. EvictIQ is not a law firm. Not legal advice. We do not publish a fake national 7-day form.

Key facts

  • Not a law firm. Not legal advice. Eviction law is state law.
  • We provide eviction services and coordinate with licensed attorneys in our attorney network when representation is required.
  • EvictIQ field operations: Georgia (metro Atlanta). We do not operate field crews in every state.
  • No invented prices, named counsel, bar numbers, or win rates.

Notice days versus answer days

A pre-filing 7-day pay-or-quit is not the same as a post-service answer window. Georgia’s typical tenant answer period after service is a claimed operational fact on this site — it is not a nationwide 7-day notice.

If you meant the paper before filing, start at /eviction-notice and /services/pay-or-quit-notices.

Claim-safe routing

We will not tell you every state is seven days. That would be invented law.

State law controls. Eviction law is state law, and notice periods, forms, courts and timelines differ in every state — sometimes county to county within a state. This page explains how the process generally works. It is not legal advice and it is not a substitute for your state's actual rules.
Not a law firm. EvictIQ is not a law firm and this page is not legal advice. Where representation is required, we coordinate counsel through our attorney network. Licensed attorneys in our network are engaged as required for the matter and jurisdiction.

Common questions

Is a 7-day notice required in every state?

No. Some states use other day counts or other paper names. Verify the property’s statute.

Is Georgia’s 7-day answer period a 7-day notice?

No. The answer period starts after proper service of the case. A pre-filing notice is a different paper.

Does this site give legal advice on notice days?

No. EvictIQ is not a law firm. These guides are general information. Your state’s rules control.
